Walk in My Shoes

Every once in a while,

I get new news,

someone I know,

has walked in my shoes.

While it is hard for me to discern,

your path very well,

to assume you know mine,

may lead you to hell.

Outward appearance,

may be all that you know,

to make a distinction,

of what I have to show.

But you don't know me,

when your bluff I call,

you don't know me,

no, not at all, at all.

For, unless you walk in my shoes,

know the glory and pain of my muse,

you don't know me nearly enough,

to be of any real use.

What you wrote is very true. One can make a comparison, but it is not the same. because it is them and not you. YOU ARE YOU. Outward appearances, are just that. Many have the ability to hide the real things happening beneath their outer exterior!

This was dead on perfect. I loved the truth written here.

It is too easy to judge others when never having walked in their shoes…The alternative is just to observe others actions, without judging, when we are not aware of their individual
circumstances…

Ron, at my age now, if there is one thing I've learned in my (at present) eighty seven years is that regardless the outward appearance of others, there may be a pain so much worse than any I've gone through because, in reality most people hold it in, keeping that pain far from others. Me? Actually I think I've been pretty lucky in so many ways and ulucky in so many other ways, but if placed on a two armed scale, I pretty much believe, all in all, it would even out.

To walk in someone else's shoes is an interest, indeed intriguing symbolic phrase that you have well explored. I believe you can walk in someone else's shoes without really "knowing" them. In other words, you can feel sympathy and compassion, for example, for others, by "walking in their shoes". Some people can do this meaningfully and effectively, others cannot.

As always you speak the truths you see as well as anybody. Your voice always speaks with a Sweet Rhythm!

It is easy for us to judge others, but as the saying goes, "Each one of us is fighting a battle within that only we know, and others don't." - I refrain from judging others.

I also won't let other people who judge me ruin my day, as I am my own person, and I don't need others' approval to be me.

I have this problem in a different way. I am bipolar and am considered disabled. There's little compassion for people with mental illness. It's even worse when you're considered "high functioning." Because your disability isn't obvious then you're a deadbeat and a fraud. It becomes a lonely world indeed.
