The crud keeps growing and the more I've tried to get rid of it, the less I am able to.

Cleaning Out

Oh, to be free and clean!

Far from all the seen and unseen.

All of the garbage piling up,

plugging the hole in the dike,

of my ever more flotsam dream.

I tackle one with gusto every day,

but two more unexpectedly appear,

like eye floaters in my ear,

I can neither see or hear.

I try to stamp them out,

starting calmly not to shout.

But AI on the end of the line,

does not understand my need,

puts me on hold for greed.

Wish I could just throw it all out,

give everything a fresh head start,

turn my old into new art.

But all I do is just fart.

Farting in the wind like a dog,

barking at the moon.

Crap not going away, anytime soon.

Oh, well. When I finish this poem,

I will try again tomorrow.

This is humorous but also serious at the same time. I have always been averse to clutter both of material things and of the mind. Be well, Ron.

THANKS FOR THE GUTS TO SHARE YOUR FEELINGS WITH US, RONALD...! I AM SURE THIS 'VENT' HELPED QUITE A BIT AND...IT MIGHT HELP YOU TO KNOW THAT WE 'ALL' HAVE BEEN/IS/OR, ARE SLIDING...THERE. I HAVE CERTAINLY 'PEEKED' AT AREAS(THINGS)THAT I NEED TO DECLUTTER, HOWEVER....I'LL GET TO IT, WHEN I GET TO IT. AMEN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I’ve always hated clutter, but it seems as I age, it no longer matters. I tell myself I will be all right as long as I still know where everything is. But when something gets lost, and it’s out of sight, out of mind, then the clutter has to be shaped up and hauled away. I use the term hauled away like there’s a lot of it. Well . . . Yes there is. My wife keeps asking me what I want her to do with all this stuff, and I tell her to leave it alone and I’ll take care of it after while. She tells me I always say that. This is true what she said, but I do have the best intentions of getting rid of all that has collected over five decades plus seven years. No doubt I will die and leave what’s here for somebody else to get rid of. Yea, that’s what I think I’m gonna do. Isn’t that what most people do, Ron? That’s what my sister-in-law did. It took the wife and me months to go through all her stuff in the attic, basement, and on her kitchen table. Tell you the truth, we’ve not been the same since. You don’t believe me? Just ask my wife. She will tell you the same thing. I’m finished!

You're not alone. Seems accumulation is a part of the societal norm in America. We are, after all, the chief consumers on the planet. Even with my home burning down in Park City, I've managed to accumulate way too much over the past 20 years.

When I was younger, I could not go to sleep or spend another day without doing what I thought I ought to do today, but now that so, so many years have gone by... "Screw it!"

Ron,
I love the way you express and share your feelings and thoughts.
Your humor brought smile to my face.
Tomorrow is a new day and that is the beauty of it.
