I grew up in the country as well Judy...
Roaming the woods or just throwing pebbles in the pond are some of the best memories...I visit that old farm sometimes now....

Ah Judy I share many of the same memories as you...I too swung on the grapevines that grew wild in the mountain behind our house. We would climb onto the big rocks and on top of one cave and swing off on the grapevines...such fun! I also stayed barefoot in the summer and waded the creeks...ooh the mud between my toes, and then the horrible day that the nail stuck in my foot, will never forget, but to this day I still like to go barefoot, in the house and my yard anyway....loved it Judy!

Sometimes we learn more on our way to school, then we do when we get there! You have good memories, your description of the walk to school is beautiful. Not like others who walk to school in 2 foot of snow, barefoot and cold.
