Politely Rules

The great horsemen of old,

Those close to the greats like:

Eclipse, Man O’ War and Secretariat;

Called it “The look of eagles.

It is a sense that the horse looks through or above you,

Like they possess wisdom, a depth,

Deeper and wiser than most.

It is a knowing that they are, indeed, great.

A horse person knows when they see it,

It truly sets those horses apart.

Politely is a colt who owns this gift,

Truly, he knows who he is.

He runs with the other colts,

But somehow he knows something more than they,

For Politely rules with casual authority,

He assumes, and the others step down.
