A friend, C.J. Stevens, reminded me of an old saw about gods and madness.

Poem Artwork

"Whomever gods would annihilate,
They first drive mad," ‘twas said.
A wry sage, wise and articulate,
Must, oil's future have read.

Which comes first is a race:
Oil’s extinction — or ours! Sigh —
Its fumes in our space,
Its trash in our eye.

Our common predilection
Is war — mutual homicide.
But if we pick that selection —
Over extinction, who’ll preside?

As long as we ignore the simple words of The Constitution of The United States of America, CONGRESS and The OVAL OFFICE will remain a CARTEL under the WILL of The PLUTOCRACY as the evidences can show.

Your poetic pen serves the light of JUSTICE.

In admiration,

A fine deeply true poem. And I am proud and delighted to have helped spark the creation of this one.

Dear Leland,

This poem is a profound statement of the reality we now face. Sadly, my intuition tells me that things are going to get even worse before they get better. I thought that 9/11 was a wake up call but it seems that most Americans have hit the snooze alarm.

Love & Light always and in all ways,

I remain optimistic that clean energy abounds and we will quickly harness it when it is cool and economic. The infernal combustion engine is a dinosaur and the oil interests want to drag out its death. The tricky part is feeding the world physically and spiritually so that war isn't a solution. My guess is that good old pestilence will solve the problem whether we like it or not. Starvation already is.

A damned good question, Leland, and we probably lose either way.

So many 'articulate' writes from Poets are considered 'illiteral', while religion idioms its wisdom. I guess now is the time to 'pick up' the Poet's Swords, Leland!

The unfortunate reality is that others are making the choice for us...kinda makes extinction a one way ticket...
