Little paws........

Early morning while all is quiet,
the pitter patter of little paws abound.
Climbing up steps at the foot of the bed,
their musical harmony can be heard all around.

Flurry of excitement fully expressed in their eyes,
no matter the hour, no matter which day.
Eyes all lit up, stubby tails waving wildly,
kissing and jumping as if to say hip, hip, hooray.

All three kitties take their rightful place,
on the windowsill bathing in warm sunlight.
Now I ask, is there a better way to begin,
so many bright eyes ready to excite.

Always happy, so full of innocent joy,
their eyes just sparkle with promise to come.
No more leashes, no more gates,
they are big girls now, just not as big as some.

They have learned to sit, stay and stop,
salute, shake hands and yes, roll over.
We spend some quality time outside too,
run, explore while playing in grass and clover.

Sniffing colorful flowers for the very first time,
is so alluring and mesmerizing to view.
A mouthful of grass to taste at will,
so much fun to observe all that is new.

Yet, it is always in their eyes,
so inquisitive, always wanting to learn more.
Of course they are aware we must go in,
knowing there will be special treats in store.

Seeing birds flying overhead,
forever wanting to know why they are up so high.
Jumping and prancing, performing their dance,
trying so hard to jump up in the sky.

Different personalities, yet energy filled,
each new day has new surprises in store.
So much more sharing yet to be,
whether at home, outside or by the sea shore.
