IF ONLY TO REFLECT

This poem is dedicated to all the daydreamers in the world ...

Poem Artwork

Sometimes I like to be alone if only to reflect ... I think about what's going on deep inside myself ...

I think about what was and can never be again--like the time when I was five and Troy Butler pulled my hair ...

My first date ... first kiss ... walking down the aisle ... my first child ... his first smile, first tooth, and first few baby steps ...

I think about many things from the past to the present-- I toss in a dream or two-- sort-of my own little slice of heaven...

My favorite, my own little hideaway on some far off secluded island ...

I stop-- reflect-- do I dare compare my past dreams with the present ...

Have I changed ... grownup ... or am I still daydreaming as though I were still eleven ...

Lovely poem Victoria, without dreamers nothing would be created.

This poem, "IF ONLY TO REFLECT" strikes up the reader's imagination and prods nostalgic memories.

A true poem poemized with real life's emotions and mixed with emotions from knowledge of a mature and sage heart.

I have enjoyed a pleasing reading.

Love the serenity of this one, Victoria...very well done!

Just remember: when a writer is caught 'daydreaming' he or she can claim to be working...

We can grow up Victoria but when we stop dreaming, that is growing old. Keep dreaming.

A very good example of free verse and one which gives the lie to the critics who say that free verse is only "cut-up prose."

By the use of appropriate repetitions, images that will resonate with all dreamers (and aren't we all...dreamers?), a unique style and sincere tone, you have expressed your theme in a poem that is a delight and a revelation to read.

Don't we all feel like eleven, if we honest? Then we look in the mirror and say, "Don't look eleven, but inside I am." Good thought provoker.

all writers would probably be 'accused' of daydreaming..too bad in school it's so frowned upon. I love to daydream still and naturally slip into netherworlds.*~:) Thanks for the reminder..beautifully expressed.*S*S

Fantastic!!!! What would come of us if we quit dreaming. I reflect and compare so many of life's little twist. Dreaming keeps me sane.

perfect poetry, like this poem, doesn't take a lot of painful introspection nor lofty words to confound and confuse. it flows smoothly, rhythmically, as waves on the beach washing away the footprints from the day's work. Victoria has captured the essence of this simplicity in this poem, reflected it in the image above and then gone on to another work. it's a glorious tribute, Victoria, fitting to show forth the prose of refined poetry without the interventions of mankind. Total, complete and a prayer of reverence.

Liked this one. I am a day dreamer and pretender and have a great imagination. You have to have these in order to be a poet. Otherwise my poetry would be pretty dull. Del
