Marvelous piece and pic, Tiger Lily. I've heard the cry of the timber wolf quite often in the northwoods, and it truly is spectacular. I only wish our brother Wolf fared better in our modern world today.

I just returned from a bookstore, where I was fascinated by a book on wolves tonight. AND I went wild over the moon, which is huge in the skies over Atlanta tonight. your timing, as often is the case, is amazing. a poem of wonder! Dawn

Nope.. But all domestic dogs are 87% wolf...

Funny just watch a documentary about the man eating wolves of Sweden.

beautiful imagery captivates the mind ...

i once hear wolves while I was in Canada where they are still somewhat abundant ... it was an awesome experience ... unfortuantely, the gray wolf is still an endangered species in the continental US ..

Thought is was a painting. Recent DNA studies show that all dogs, large and small, come from the gray wolf. Our genetic makeup is so similar that it is no wonder we behave like them amd they, like us. Wolves have raised human babies, making the Roman story possible. We both are fearfully aware of the dark and the moods of the moon.

My mom used whenever anything highly unusual occured, that it happened " Only once in a Blue Moon "..I see the significance now..
I love to hear coyotes howling on a moonlit night in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, you haven't lived until you hear that eerie and bloodcurdling sound in those magnificent settings.

OH ... I love this! Being a wolf keeper myself, Wolf Moon has an ethereal effect on me. My wolves can be heard up to three miles away I am told by the villagers who live in a small branch of my old country town. This music stirs my soul. I play the flute for my 5 wolves, as they know it is a cue to harmonize. Their song in this season of winter is so much different than all other seasons. Their bloodline comes from Ellesmere Island, so inbred genetics course the Arctic white wolves on a soul journey back into time in their territory. You know, they are my inspiration, Eileen. Thanks for the December moon. I know it well, as it is the month of my birth.

Your creativity always astounds me sublime poetress. Never knew of the second moon being called a blue moon. Now the old song Blue Moon makes more sense to me.

The picture is stunning, Eileen, and I noticed that beautiful star, but it was early, only minutes after sundown and it was actually sitting above the moon at that point. At least from this area. I figured it was Venus, but I came home and checked an astronomy site to make sure. It was a breathtaking sight and combined with the crisp December air, a stimulating physical experience as well. Thinking of a wolf sharing that amazing scene rather completes the image.
