Apple picking time is here My favorite season of the year Time to visit the Apple farm Where beauties turn on the charm Walking by bushels of every kind A Gravenstein grabbed my mind It told me a strange apple tale Of some refusing to become a meal There were also many other things That really pulled at my hearstrings It said Grannie Smith wouldn't be pies That really bought tears to my eyes Said that Golden and Red Delicious Were tired of being billed as nutricious Macintosh was angry with Jonathan Pink Lady wanted to marry Braeburn I had to tell Gravenstein to stop lamenting The applesauce apple had my head spinning After a minute it continued to relate How the apples were planning to retaliate Said that they wouldn't give any more juice No more applebutter, caramel apples, no excuse Gala and Roma, were jealous of Fuji and winesap All were beginning to feel they were in a trap Suddenly there was a burst of music in my ear I awoke to the morning sun bright and clear That it had all been a dream was hard to believe So happy I could go to the orchard I was relieved I couldn't wait to have my first slice of mile high pie Thoughts of those other apple goodies made me high!

Good one, E.T. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I haven't got a sweet tooth, so desserts of any kind just don't seem to call my name. :) Only advice I have to offer, is watch those calories when they come a-creeping!

I loved this...and I just made apple butter with my students week before last, and am baking apple, pumpkin, and zuchinni bread tonight, your timing is great as the poem is too, I may borrow this one to read to my students next year, each September I center my entire month around apples, so right now I am headed over to your blog to check out your recipe...because guess what? I am finishing a fall cook booklet with my students, and we could use another apple recipe...great minds think alike!

You treated me to the complete harvest of senses with this pen. I can smell the spples and throw in a little cinnamon and the harvest is here. It is, indeed, apple harvest time. Here in Georgia we head to the apple farms in Cornelia, Georgia. Can't wait for some fresh apple butter.

I eat one a day. And there's a winery up in Julian, in the mountains East of us, that makes the most delicious apple wine. A high step away from Boones Farm.
