I saw a figure in the dark
could not believe my eyes
it wasn't like any other
surely it was a disguise
no one in my neighborhood
or any other for that matter
would look like this entity
I felt my teeth begin to chatter

the figure clearer when nearer
I barely saw shoulder length hair
couldn't  define facial features
it wore what looked like fluorescent
white silk ,knee length tee shirt
it's legs like an Eagles with talons
and behind arms and across back
it had wings that looked like silver

Just as I was about to say something
it flew up over me circling round
then it was gone, I was disappointed
I stood in awe, wanting to see it again
still walking home I saw it's shadow
flying over me,too high to really see
then it swooped down right next to me
I looked into captivating angelic  eyes

Though dark,I was surrounded by light
in moments it flew ahead  to an animal
again in shadows,I couldn't make it out
but it grasped what looked like a lamb
both disappeared high into the sky
distraught, not knowing what it meant
 I saw the figure alone,plunge to earth
when it hit the ground it turned to dust

I reached the pile of dust in the shadows
some of it sparkled with a  neon glow
what it all meant, I wonder if I'll ever know
