A raging rainstorm suddenly developed
the couple pulled their  horse and buggy next to a shed for some protection

She and hubby cuddled for warmth from
the icy chill, the thunder and lightning
were wicked enough to kill

A man approached in custom coach
arrayed in black was he, his face was
bare with icy glare,he looked like death
to she

He pulled up in front of them with just
a nod of his head, they nodded back, and between them not a word was said

The storm worsened wind blowing debris which struck the lone man knocking him out, horses bolted racing the route

Couple followed hoping to help the man
they caught up,stopped his coach, took him  inside carriage, their bodies protecting him

A bolt of lightning struck the couple, as they tried to get horses under control  both died while the man they saved survived

The heavens declared their astral light would burn forever in the night, lighting the path to realms of glory ,where angels would tell their
heroic story

I was once on vacation at a lake in NC. This true story was told by the other pasengers in the boat. A lightning storm approached and everyone said let's head for shore. The boat owner, very drunk, stood up, held up his hands and said, "Go ahead God get me!"......He did.

,,,and what timing, our tv areal was hit by lightning, the tv was saved from blowing up, by blowing up the digi box first.
This has that black and white nightmare-ish quality.

Before your hit by lighning your hair stands up to attract the lecky.

What an eerie, intriguing story, Tiger Lily. And what a picture! Lightning, although so fascinating to watch, can truly be very deadly as well.

No doubt about it they are talking with the angels in heaven after they risked theirs lives to save a man and in so doing met their demise.

Great great story poem sugar chum ... it can be scary at times - like arthritic gnarled fingers grabbing at the earth. You rock!

Eileen,

Holy smoke, that is a little too close for comfort! Happened to Karen and I last week, we were at a local restaurant when a sudden furious storm popped up: we watched a bolt hit right across the street, blew out a transformer. Which one? The one that controls our power! Out for eight hours LOL S c a r y! Lightning is beautiful, but also deadly. Excellent write.

(((HUGS))) and love, karla.
