Arresting face
Staring out
From eternity,
Always so proud
And seemingly,
Fearless.
For four years now
You've caught me
Unawares,
Showing up
At odd moments,
Breaking my woman's heart,
Again and again,
That one so young,
Strong, and selfless,
Met such a murky end
In that far off land.
In my mind
You have become
The poster child
For all who have given
The ultimate sacrifice
In this war
Where the enemy
Practices illusion
Both there and here.
You would not
Have looked at me twice,
But your face is haunting
To me, and
To all those 
Who look upon it.
You've earned your sleep.
Now rest in peace
