Shorelines call
From far off lands,
Their siren song
Promising
Magical nights
And sparkling days
Spent aboard
A gleaming ship
Or walking the sands
Where ancient Mayans
Once trod.
I long to explore
Cultures far different
From my own,
Buying trinkets
And trying out
The new language
I am learning.
My fingers itch
To digitally capture
An exotic bird in flight
Or an exquisite bloom
By the wayside,
And the laughing faces
Of native children.
But my cruise
Is still months away
And I must be patient.
Those things I yearn to find
Will be there
But, O!
How I long to be there
Now!
