These could be dark days
In the aftermath
Of catastrophic change,
Days filled with dread
And depression
Framed by the onset
Of the cold rains
Of early spring's return
To winter;
But...
The dogwoods and tulips
Still bloom,
And the birds still sing
A promise
Of better times to come,
While my phone won't stop ringing
And my email box continually fills
As friends reach out
And pull me into their embrace,
Never letting me forget
That however
The rest of the world may treat me
I am never,
Ever,
Alone.
