Tomorrow's my birthday
Marking another year closer
To the big five-oh.
And what have I accomplished
In the past forty-seven?
So many starts and stops,
So much still remains unfinished:
My degree,
My ambitions,
My dreams.
So much to be overcome.
Yet, for the most part,
I am happy
With my dabbling,
With being a Jane-of-all-trades,
Happy
Despite the illness
That hounds my heels
And sometimes drags me
To the pit of despair.
So Happy Birthday Me!
Enjoy your life
However it unfolds!
The days are too short
The hours too sweet
To cry for long.

Happy Birthday Rebecca! You've reached a milestone in your life. You have so much more life to live. You've written exactly what it feels like to reach that milestone, what have I done, what do I need to do,you've said it all.
