O the joy,
And the fear,
That comes
With being given
Another chance
To rectify the mistakes
Made long ago!

Since I burned
Unforgiving bridges,
Twelve years
Of regret
And shame
For my failures...
I pray my efforts find
Fertile, unscorched ground,
And that I find forgiveness
Awaiting me there.
