Learning new tricks
For this middle-aged dog
Does not come easily.
I've been doing things
My way
For a long time now
And trying to change course
In my writing stream
Is proving a real challenge;
But perhaps these changes
Will inspire my muse
To open up new avenues
Of expression
And enable me
To reach out
To a whole new world
Of readers
And devotees.
Therefore it's onward
And upward I go,
Seeking the perfect word,
The perfect phrase,
To draw them in
To my little world.
