This is the first of two poems I wrote today. This first is a dark testament to my emotional distress of this morning.
Reaching for peace
Wherever I can find it,
Hoping to soothe
The angry, frantic beast
Inside me, while
Trying not to cave
Before my all consuming
Fear;
I spend the hours
Hoping my good judgment
Does not desert me
Completely,
And, above all,
Hiding the reality
Of my condition
From those
Who would not
Understand...
Such is my life
When I become
Unbalanced,
I pray
And pray again
For deliverance,
Crying out
Dear God,
Are you listening?
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
