Shhh! He sleeps!
Curled up in the belly fur
Of my amazingly patient collie,
Angus the Horrible projects
The very essence
Of innocence.
The heart of any naïve onlooker
Would melt away at the sight,
"So cute! So adorable!"
They would say,
But those of us who know better
Know to enjoy the peace because
While he lays there
Sleeping oh so soundly
Those little kitten batteries
Are recharging
Even as
He dreams of new mayhem
To unleash
Upon awakening.
