“People who belong to Siamese cats must make up their minds to do a good deal of waiting upon them.”
– Compton Mackenzie
The sun rises on
This sixteenth day
Of self isolation.
I am not working,
I have no family
To wake up for,
No reason
To rise or
To shine;
I could just
Luxuriate
In the warmth of
My bed
And enjoy
The peeping of
The chicks
Coming from
The overgrown azaleas
Outside my bedroom
Window;
I could return to
The slumberous land
Of lovely dreams
And fantasies
Conjured up by
My hideously bored
Mind;
But, no,
I can't,
And the reason sits
Heavily
Upon my chest,
Staring sternly with
Royal expectation
Into my face,
The true taskmaster
In these days of
Few responsibilities.
He allows no slacking,
No dereliction of
Duties;
His name is Angus
And he is King
Of this
Domain.
Also a cat lover. Had a cat, Mimi, that lived nearly 25 years that I had from 4 week. She thought I was her mother and came to my call, very unusual in a cat. A desert cat she was and quite a chirper, how she loved to stare at birds, the naughty thing. Gone now, but still alive in memory. Enjoy your cat, even if it wakes you up.
Love this poem! Yes, I love cats! They have BIG hearts and it's humans who lack communication skills who think differently. My cats converse with me daily. We communicate beautifully. I can only hope and pray to have such good relationships with my fellow species.

Sounds like a moving time to write the Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Get up and get busy…
