Embattled since birth,
An innocent mistake tasked
With finding its own
Correction,
I stand before the flaming exit
Of a long dark tunnel.
Above me,
The endless blue sky looks on
As I seek to orient myself,
While below me,
A great dark maw
Awaits expectantly.
Before me I see-
Nothing,
Nothing positive
But nothing negative either.
It is a blank canvas,
Wholly innocuous and fresh,
And it waits patiently
For me to reach deep,
To set aside my fears
And old ways,
To cross the stone bridge
It is providing,
To embrace the new life
I've struggled for
For so long.
