I am not alone
As there are many more
Like me,
Taken, sometimes sold,
And put to use
For others pleasure.
Most of my life
Is spent in the dark,
But sometimes
One comes searching
For someone like me,
Young, too young,
To know the things
He wants done,
But I do them
To stay alive.
Sometimes I wonder
If living
Is worth it.
*Human trafficking is, by definition, a heinous crime. But the trafficking of children is especially so. Please remember them when you hold your own children close to you.*
Trafficking children is as old as slavery and probably was much worse in the past, especially under colonialism. The advantage we have in the 21st-century is revealing in individual cases like the Amber alert, DNA tracking and GPS. Cameras almost everywhere. Lost children are more likely to be rescued than lost like they were in the past. While the Internet may pose a threat to children, it also is a way to track down traffickers and stop them, save children.

We have to end trafficking of all kinds within this century. We have the means to do it.
