A trampled garden
Of broken flowers
Grown but crushed
Underfoot,
Their petals,
Once vibrant with
Color and fragrance,
Left bruised and
Unappreciated
By those who see only
The garden's fountain
At its center.
With water that spouts
And flows,
Sparkling in the sun
Reflecting the moon
Delighting those who
Listen to its music,
It is
The only thing
Appreciated
In the whole of the garden
By those who don't know
Or care that
The pump making
The water flow
And the music play
Labors,
Its parts slowly disintegrating
From overwork
