“Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance.”
Carl Sandburg

Poem Artwork

I close my eyes and
Reach for you
Through
Seemingly empty air,
My thoughts centered
On what my heart
And my soul alone
Can see,
Knowing a physical being
Is not always necessary
For someone
To be present.
You come and go
In the vagueries passing
Beyond the corners of my eyes,
Only to appear fully fleshed
Once the world is veiled
From my sight.
You are both my shadow
And my light,
My reality
And my dream,
My hope
And my desire.
You are,
Always have been,
And always will be
The one true love
Of my life.

Makes me wonder if Michael is watching your odes to him. He like I would be impressed.

I believe you have just written your "magnum opus." The Sandburg quote and the photo are perfect complements. Congratulations! ed
