“When you judge another you do not define them.
You define yourself.”
Earl Nightingale
Scenario One:
Tragic news arrives
Or
The harshest words
Are hurled
And her heart is broken
Into countless,
Irreparable pieces.
She can't speak of it,
This all consuming agony,
So her appetite vanishes.
No food passes her lips
No nourishment enters
Her body,
And everyone is filled
With alarm.
Scenario Two:
Tragic news arrives
Or
The harshest words
Are hurled
And her heart is broken
Into countless,
Irreparable pieces.
She can't speak of it,
This all consuming agony,
So she eats.
Though the food
Is like sawdust
In her mouth,
She is desperate
To end the torment,
To fill the emptiness inside.
And everyone is
Disgusted.
It would seem that
How much compassion
One affords
Depends upon
The amount of coin
In their heart.
Those two scenarios operator among the emotional, the ones who take loss too hard.
Self-esteem has to be learned. It helps if parents do not blame their own children for behavior but encourage them to enhance their best talents and not worry about the rest. For a woman, attracting and holding a mate should not be a top priority. Because often, when it is, the woman sets herself up for abuse because the man knows he can take advantage of her before he ever does.
We are all given a boulder to push, mainly uphill. There are pleasures and diversions along the way, but in the end, we all collapse into dust. In that sense, life favors no-one. The pessimist dies sad and weary, but thankful it's over. The optimist dies smiling and ready for some excitement.
