Hearts rebuilt from hope resurrect dreams killed by hate.”
Aberjhani
He entered one Sunday
To an adoring crowd
Waving palm fronds
And singing hosannas.
Here was their hope,
Their Messiah,
The One whose coming
Was foretold!
Yet-
In five days
He would be tortured
And crucified,
Nailed to a cross
And subjected
To unimaginable
Suffering.
How many
Turned away
Bitterly believing
He had been
Just another
Pretender?
How many
Quickly forgot
The many miracles
He had performed?
How many
Set aside
The lessons
He had taught them?
How many
Closed their hearts
Even as they closed
Their minds?
And on the following Sunday
How many
Remained
Who would believe
In His resurrection?
Precious few were left behind
To carry on His work,
To bravely spread the word
Of His life
And all He had taught them,
To render hope that
One day
He would return
To vanquish evil
And replace it
With good.
But from those few
Faith in His promises
Was born and
Spread,
Baptized with His blood,
And the blood of those
Who would die
For Him,
Until today
When all sometimes
Seems lost,
There is still hope
To be found
In His teachings
And the promises
He made
So long ago.

A beautifully reflective piece—your questions move like quiet bells through the story of Holy Week, reminding us how fragile faith can be and how powerful it becomes when even a few choose to carry it forward. Nicely and timely presented.
