(Enjoy the fun!)My original lyrics in a pending San Diego songwriters contest
My Original lyrics to the suggested title given to us all of "Warmer Weather"
in a songwriter's contest in San Diego. This is a work in progress until I
collaborate with a composer for a matching melody. I'm thinking an upbeat
tempo with a single banjo background. Any ideas?
Warmer Weather (Richard Lee Orey, Copyright 2011)
Verse O, times are bad
So I read the ad
'Bout a weatherman's trainin' school
Showin' girls in shorts
'N dogs on the grill
By the phys ed swimmin' pool Verse Well, they sent me to Pocatello
Then Boise, Idaho
Next, Fargo 'n dear Omaha
I was always on the go Verse Came next sweet ol' Cincy
'N Chicago by the lake
Then Baltimore 'n Pittsburgh
With a shiver 'n a shake Chorus O, the ice is a pain
In Portland, Maine
'N there's better pay
In smoggy L.A.
I'm due for warmer weather. Verse They sent me on to 'Frisco
The city by the bay
Then up to gray Seattle
Where I soon learned how to pray
Verse Next came tornado alley
Where I learned to pray s'more
It was scary 'n downright pitiful
Becomin' a weather whore
Chorus The ice is a pain
In Portland, Maine
'N there's better pay
In smoggy L.A.
I'm due for warmer weather. Bridge Yes, times are bad
'N I've been had
By the weatherman's trainin' school
But my belly's full
'N my rent is paid
I'm no economic fool Chorus 'Cause you see
The ice is a pain
In Portland, Maine
'N there's better pay
In smoggy L.A.
I'm due for warmer weather.
Yes, there's better pay
In smoggy L.A.
I'm due for warmer weather. Coda I'm due for warmer weather
Fun stuff. Been to most of those places and currently reside in Smogville where the wages are mostly better assuming you have a job. How about the banjo theme from the beverly hillbillies? Patrick
