Enduring the emotional scar of rejection by a desired lover

REJECTED I stand here quiet and staring Unable to breathe or speak Mind and heart enraptured My body still and meek Paralyzed in ecstasy Your face in my full view I beg to ask the question While my heart beats out the clue What am I doing here? I ask Oh, how do I belong? Only handsome men of substance Can sing to you their song My character is lacking My means so puny and few Dreaming words of love and care I want from such as you So I walk away in silence To wonder and atone Rejected by all that�s decent Lonesome and alone Rejected by all that�s decent Lonesome and alone In a moment of exotic passion Your image across my eyes I�m dazzled by your beauty Of treasures in sweet disguise My heart is sorely yearning For words of love and time And close and personal contact That never will be mine Why is life so cruel with its Fairness and deceit Cheating lovers and their dreams Beneath its sodden feet My heart is sad and bitter A disappointed mess I only want what others have Instead of ugliness What am I doing here? I ask Oh, how do I belong? Love is so much dearer to those who have loved and lost
to find the best treasures of life you must also bear the cost.
But...I do not preach. Kathy P. dances the dance, and that is so much better.

This is an entire new twist to the usual poetic themes you write--from deep passionate love to the lonely life of unrequited love and rejection. That soft drum beat in the background really adds mood to your recitation. Well done, Richard.
