A Tribute To My Friends, A Poetic Couple I Love And Admire....
Watching The Chrysalis

they openly, poetically loved
their words filled with tender desire
i watched from the sidelines
like a child with nose pressed
against the bakery window
the sweet fragrance of their love
permeated the air around me
and created a hunger in my soul
a hunger to know that kind of love
a longing to taste such beauty
i watched as they suffered
a multitude of calloused comments
and disdainful stares from those
who think of life and its decisions
in black and white terms only
and make unqualified judgments
i felt the suffering of both
and admired the sacrifices
openly made for the sake of love
nothing was hidden in shadows
spring publicly displacing winter
i watched them grow and morph
into an exquisite chrysalis
joined at the soul, rising as one
on gossamer wings of devotion
becoming much more than either
had been before or thought to be
the fragrance filled their lives
and drifted out into the world
and i knew as i always had thought
love is alive and worth every sacrifice
