he brought her laughter
placed tenderly in her heart
like a valentine rose in her hand
voice intimated the love she needed
and unending nights of lascivious lust
he was a star’s journey afar
exotic destinations only imagined
disclosing all their ancient mysteries
simply at the exciting sound of her name
spoken by cinnamon candy lips she craved
he was fire melting her ice
a conflagration of pent up passion
escaping propriety’s prison on dark nights
when he owned her molten dreams….and her
she could feel his lips and beard against her skin
he was an expensive one way ticket
to the exotic isle where she wanted to live and die
temptation's call of the wild and taste of forbidden fruit
he was all she ever thought she needed to feel alive at last
but in the end his fire was only a chilling near death experience

All I can say is welcome back to AD!
You were sorely missed!
I haven't been around here for a while so it was a delight to see that you are gracing this portal once more.
I revel in your verse..
thank you Belle!
This one is a keeper..
Very lurid and almost sinful, but escape can be quite the tale turner.
Great poetic tale here LaBelle. Surely have missed your presence here on the Den. Good to read you again.

Forbidden fruit always looks more delicious, taste better, but in the end, it can make you sick. Good to read you again La Belle, a solute from the Jester.
sometimes, in a near death experience, you can be through the worst imaginable but resurface renewed or you can feel consumed by the flames of the experience ... it all depends upon your perception and understanding ... your poetic skill reverberates in this poem, La Belle ...
What Eve felt biting the apple? or it was fate that capriciously wants her to go its way, no hers?
An empty glass, besides a full bottle of wine, wishes to be filled to the brim and that chilling near death experience be damned!
Better to have loved once and burn than don't have loved at all.
the sweet bitterness of love that is not what it started out to be is that there are always some sweet lingering memories that refuse to even let us go completely.
