A State Of Life

having perused the ancient question
“To be or not to be?”
After a life span I am no closer
to a great epiphany of why I am
or why at times I tire of being
but even as sorrow surrounds me
and prison bars deny me access
to vast, expanding horizon
behind shuttered attic windows
stunted wings in dark places
yet mimic motion of sunlit flight
I am at peace with who I am
all I am, my darkness, my light
hidden pieces of the whole
how many entities within one?
ancient wisdom alive,
residing somewhere amid
half forgotten lifetimes
behind millennia of lengthy veils
and languages no longer spoken
dwell dreams I dare to remember
always mystic, always realist
optimist, unbroken by adversity
refusing to lay down and die
beneath fast trains of pain
“To be or not to be?”
I have been, I am, I will be
I am at peace with who I am
and all the reasons why I am
embracing the state of “Life”
unafraid of pleasure or pain
not afraid to love or die

Such honesty comes across in your words La Belle. It is so good to know that through adversity or triumph you remain strong and that you have inner peace inside. I haven't been around in awhile, too much happening around me since losing my job of 12 Years, being a school Bus Driver, because of a Section 8 hardened MOTHER and her daughter...with fabricated lies... Then the waiting began, as I was let go..So, they hear her nomore...What a Town! Support the parent (with lies that were unfound) and not the driver) Makes sense to me, make sense to YOU?
All of it gives me the picture of a camel after it went through the needles eye and remained a survivor. No many would have done it, very few tempted to finish it all suddenly and without regret wouldn't have done it.
This seems to be quite a State Of Life, I have known all of this about you for some time, but isn't it wonderful to actually feel it and write it? You are a true survivor and bravo to your State of Life, poem!
You are comfortable with your understanding of life but also always willing to share a little bit of your knowledge and love with others...a great place to be.
