Much Too Long
By La Belle Rouge

too long, it’s been much too long
and though the heart still embraces
the memory of you, of us….
the fire is only a reverie
that can no longer warm the soul
of kindle the same desire

I’ve hoped you were happy
I’ve prayed you were well

the waiting has been difficult
the empty place in affections
you once so completely filled
has overshadowed with pain
any sweetness of possibility

I’ve hoped you were happy
I’ve prayed you were loved

waiting patiently to finally hear
about where you have been
what you have experienced
since last I heard your voice
that voice that I can’t forget
though it’s been much too long....

Belle, a heart void of pretension, searching for resolve. A heart knowing only the ambition of love. Tender, pained and resolute my dear friend. A masterful piece to keep close for future readings. Love and peace to you. Jon Michael

wow-you should either tell the person if they are nearby or email them to let them know you feel Ms la belle-most of us guys are like Blockheads--we need to be told something before it sinks in-well done and very romantic as always

There's regret in this writing, and longing and missing,
Belle, but above all there is beauty and great kindness of thought.
Yours is a noble heart and an elegant pen.

The longing of unrequited love. Makes for great verse, but I'm glad I don't have it. The painting is you.

Belle, as always, you bring your beautiful soul within your poetry. It is that element of your work that is so admired. One day, perhaps you will hear from him, but until that day, live like there are no tomorrows...be well and be happy, dear one.

Peace, love and light,
Amber

so sincere and deeply heartfelt, Belle. The beauty of this is its real tone of on-going intimacy and inner-knowing - that which can never be erased when two have shared soul-deep, no matter "how long". Purity in your pen as always. Love this, bless you, xx

The longing for a lost love that ended without one party wanting it to is indeed heart wrenching and leaves a longing so hard to be filled.
