Picture Of Ginny, Taken By Me

I Cried Today

I cried today, don't really know
why this day was any different
it was as if a dam of grief broke
and it all came to the surface
in terrible torrents of tears
the pain I have pushed down
and tried to deny so many years
floated into undeniable reality
bringing with it all my sorrow
all my deepest questions of "why"
I had carried it all inside so long
there was no one to see me cry
only my beautiful angel of a dog
she climbed halfway onto my lap
laid her head on my shoulder
and gently gave me a Poodle kiss
on my wet cheek, I felt understood
I felt loved and not at all judged
as odd, weak or mentally unhinged
because I was having a breakdown
she didn't know why, My Angel
had no idea what initiated my tears
she only realized I was hurting
and it was her job to comfort me
tears are supposed to be cathartic
I instinctively know there will be
more times like today needed
to purge all this ancient ache
and the next time I openly weep
my sweet, protective, White Angel
will be anxious to comfort me
because she loves me and that's
what you do when you love someone
you sympathize and kiss away tears

Sometimes grief overwhelms our hearts and we weep to purge the hurt, better released than kept in for years to slowly destroy us from within. Your pain will abate and your poodle and perhaps, an honest friend or loved one will help to erase the pain. Sad and introspective Belle. Written with deep emotion. Jon Michael

Animals are amazing in that respect. It sounds as if she did bring comfort. Beautiful dog and heartfelt words.

All of my little four-legged family members down through the years have been both comfort and, much too often, my reasons for living. I have yet to find any two-legged family member worthy of such consideration.

Very well expressed.

Very heartfelt and you are very lucky to have your little Angel to comfort you. I felt your pain and I took it away.
Peace love and Angel light to you my sweet friend

A dog's love is unconditional - if only we human beings could be more like dogs.

Animals are so instinctive and know when one of us is sick or having a breakdown, as you said. They are the greatest comforters of all.

Always,

Funny how we oft times call animals dumb, but they know how to console us when we are aching and blue.
Splendid rendering on how life finds a friend when we need one.

Lady La Belle~
To the tears that flow freely. Your Angel was there
in your time of need. She loves you. So do I.

Angel blessings,

If angels are white, she sure looks angelic. You seem to have a lot of pent-up emotion and baggage from the past that won't quite let you go. Keep writing away to keep the tears at bay.

Certainly words allow the writer a kind of exactness of thought, whereas tears allow the inexpressible to flow from our most secret places. You've found a nice confluence in this. Ginny seems a regal and wise companion. Very moving, Belle. Blessings...

"Questions of why," indeed
They haunt us all.
That's why god made a bundle of unconditional love
called dogs. they have a way of being uplifting without even knowing why, just that they love their person and aim to please....My Lucy is the same way.

Sometimes a person just needs to let go of some of the hurt without even knowing the reason, especially writers. It's that cycle of hurt/release that makes us, forces us to write. I just wrote today that a poet, "...kicks himself in the guts kicks himself in the guts kicks himself in the guts until it feels damned good...."

OH LA BELLE, YOU'VE DONE WHAT WE DO; WHEN WE HURT FOR WHATEVER REASON, WE CRY. YOUR SHARING IS A PIECE OF YOU THAT SO MANY WILL NOT EXPOSE ABOUT THEMSELVES. CONNIE FAUST, AS INSPIRATIONAL POET ON AD HAS A POEM ENTITLED, SHARING OUR TEARS WITH GOD - PLEASE READ IT. GOD USES MANY THINGS TO COMFORT US AND IN YOUR INSTANCE HE USED YOUR WHITE ANGEL. WHEN YOU'VE READ CONNIE'S WORK PLEASE READ AN ARTICLE ON MY SITE - WE CRY. I PRAY THAT THE 'RELEASE' THAT YOU NEEDED HAS BEEN REACHED AND NOW YOU CAN 'PRESS-ON' KNOWING - YOU ARE NOT, NEVER WERE, NOR NEVER WILL BE...ALONE. MUCH LOVE TO YOU, MY FRIEND. MAY BLESSINGS AND OVERFLOWING FAITH BE YOURS...ABUNDANTLY! JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS!
