I have often said, Happy Holidays
to clerks in stores, casual contacts
people whose faith I don't know
but this year I will be wishing
everyone a Merry Christmas
there are many other holidays
during this festive season
Christmas is what I celebrate
Christ Jesus is who I celebrate
and frankly, I'm a bit jaded with
trying to be so politically correct
when cities are banning decorations
and nativity scenes are outlawed
the very least I can do to honor
My Savior, Lord and King is to
say Merry Christmas and when I
think of how Christians are dying
for the faith, Merry Christmas
causing disapproval and frowns from
those who don't care what it means
seems like a small sacrifice to pay
to honor the One who gave all for me
if you celebrate another holiday
or nothing at all this blessed season
I mean no disrespect to you at all
but in my heart I'll be celebrating
The King Of Kings, Prince Of Peace
along with my traditional greeting
go wishes for your peace and joy
for all a time of love and good will
a time for sacred sharing and caring
so Merry Christmas to all this year
and a Happy New Year for the next

That's the beauty of "freedom of religion." We all can celebrate our religious beliefs, whatever they are, without repercussion in this great nation. If we violate that we are tearing down an ideal that has stood the test of time quite well in spite of much abuse.
