"PLAINS SONG (A HAIKU CHAIN)" <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> The pounding of drums Echo through darkening skies The Ancients Ones speak. <> Warrior on horse Approaches wearing buckskins Beaded with lightning. <> Overstuffed grey clouds Burst open, spill their contents On the thirsty Plains. <> The wind caresses The faces of The People With soft, time worn hands. <> The People are pleased. The Ancients are not angry. Together, they sing. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> (C) Copy written, September 21, 2004, by Karla Dorman.
Ahhhhhhh... what vivid mind-pictures, Karla... such quiet power in and around the words and lines you've written. My sister and her daughter went to live with the Lakota tribe for a week this summer, to help build some new outbuildings and to experience their culture. I will share this beautiful poem with them.
You have captured the mystical and the honesty of a culture that we should all learn from. This is just amazing work! katy xox.
You have delivered such eloquent and stunning imagery with your golden quill my friend. Your amazing talent is like an everflowing river. May your golden quill never cease its golden flow.
I loved this; this is absolutely mindblowing! You continue to expound on your talents; you deserve to be published! Well done; BRAVA!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D

Karla, unfortunately I’ve been inundated lately, but I have continued to read your dazzling creations. I enjoy reading your work and learning from your gifted quill. You possess extraordinary talent, style and grace, and your stimulating work will continue to enlighten and delight the masses long after we depart from this world. I know I will carry the wonderful memories of your well-penned compositions. You have continued to elevate the level of knowledge in all who are fortunate enough to visit your dramatic Den. For those of us who are willing to consider ourselves to be a human being, author or poet, we naturally draw off each other’s creative influences. I have enjoyed reading another treasure and visit. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary work my poet friend. Take care and be well. Good luck. Keep The Faith.
The drug called "The Shari" has been used for vision quests over many years. But, when all the rivers start drying up, the tribe must send a young hunter named Tomás on a much more important trip through the Amazon.
