I AM OKAY.

This just came to me, and so, I write...

Poem Artwork

^ ^ ^
I really want to write a poem,
But I can't, I'm so afraid!
Do I have the right to wield a pen
Or will it just slowly fade?

I really want to express my thoughts,
But what will the people think?
Am I a Poet?  Am I not?
Should I pour another drink?

I really want to write, but I'm scared,
And my words, not good enough.
Do I have something worthy to share
Or am I just blowing snuff?

I really want to be a writer,
But is it all just a dream?
A nightmare, an all-nighter?
I thought I heard myself scream...

I really want to write a poem,
But I can't, I'm so afraid!
Do I have the right to wield a pen
Or will it just slowly fade?

I would say you have every right to write, to wield a pen, as only you can do so well...Ed

you have plenty of right to wield a pen. I love what happens when you put pen to paper. Great Write, as usual!

I think we all question our ability to write and wonder how our writings will be received. I just write, I don't much worry about what others think, anymore. Perhaps one day, my words will make sense to someone and help them through a tough situation. Good stuff, Karla.
Take care,
Sherry

Well I often get these moments myself and then I see something and mull it over. You are doing okay so keep at it.

You not only have the right to write, you have an obligation to write...if not to anyone else but to yourself. Is it just a dream? No more than it is anybody else's! Even those that have been published have a reoccuring dream for another..Yes it's a dream, and one that you need to be reaching for!
Now pick up that pen and get to it!

Full steam ahead, I'd say, Karla! Wad up those self-doubts, wrap them in foil and stuff them in the trash... you have a gift and we, the lucky readers, get to unwrap it every time we visit here. Good stuff! katy xox.

I'm with Eileen and Nordette here, Karla... but I know from experience that our own self-esteem can get seriously in the way of seeing ourselves the way that others see us... so, at those times, we have to trust ourselves to the objective view and not let our own self-damning get in the way... I talk to myself as well as you, here... and the people say: "Keep writing cos we wanna keep reading!!" You better believe it, Honey!! LOL Kate xx

(((Karla)))

You (and everyone else here) has the right to write (say THAT fast three times! LOL), and you have the right to share it with others. Your writing is too good to hide; and you have touched many people through your thought provoking poetry! Your writing has taken off in new directions, and it is exciting to see the transformation in your words! Keep on writing, dear Poet, and never let those who attack get to you; you are MUCH better than that! I believe in you, and so do many others here!! SO WRITE, damn it!!!!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your biggest fan (and your twin sister!), Karen Lynn. :D

No, No, Karla, don't turn to drink! I personally think you're channeling the negative energy of someone else's writing fears because we all know you can write. Maybe you should check and see if one of your neighbors is a frustrated hack of a writer. ;-)

You've got all the right angst to be a real writing genius, the talent too. ;-) Hang in there. I love your stuff!

You not only have the right dear Karla, but you have the duty to share your God given talent. Anyone who can achieve what you have over this past year with your poetry has no right to not write!
