~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
...an' my eyes were watchin'
when He reach down
th'ough the blackness of the storm.
i heard His voice
whisper above the thunder:
'PEACE.  PEACE, BE STILL.'
an' the sun broke th'ough the clouds
at that moment.
suddenly, the rays of hope
shone in my soul:
i weren't afraid no more.

This is a dynomite poem, Karla. It speaks to the reader and pulls them into the moment.

Love the voice here, which is deep southern and comforting in itself. This has such a gravity to it, as well as being cosily colloquial. Very effective, Karla, and the visual is quite stunning. TY for this: can hear the tone that stills the waves! Kate xx
