There's no Earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going.
There's no knowing
Where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing
Is it raining?  Is it snowing?
Is a hurricane a-blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing....

(From "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory")

My Muse took an unexpected direction,
Taking me into unknown territories.
I told her I thought it would be dangerous
But she just chuckled at my panicky pleas.

She told me to hang on and enjoy the view.
I couldn't, laying on the deck of the ship.
Monsterous waves of ink poured all over me.
As cruise directors go, my Muse was a pip.

A great white word--the biggest one I've ever seen--
Picked his teeth with the remainders of a pen.
He asked if they were having Poets today.
My Muse said I wasn't on the menu then.

Suddenly, the ship turned into an eagle.
Great...if there is one thing I'm scared of, it's heights.
We soared over visions of great poetry.
Got so inspired, I couldn't wait to write.

Wouldn't you know it--I dropped my only pen.
The eagle screamed into a dive after it.
All I could do was to hang on for dear life.
And mutter under my breath, 'O, spit, o, spit...'

Suddenly, the eagle turned into an ant.
'Now, what is the lesson in this?,' I wondered.
My Muse told me, 'With long hours and hard work,
Your poems will roar with the Voice that Thunders.'

'How could something so grand come from one so small?,'
I was thinking as I woke up in my bed,
Poems were forming as fast as I could think,
So I sit and write the poems from my head.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
