Under muddy waters lies the stained white radiance of Orleans' wedding gown. Torn in places, diamonds scattered by the winds to places unknown ... it was beautiful, once.
And it will be, again.
Someone found the gown, had it cleaned and repaired to an even greater elegance, in the hope she'd return. Orleans has come home. And look how lovely she is ... It's time to celebrate.
Unique, powerful and truly visionary, Karla! TY for this change of perspective and pure, radiant ray of hope. A beautiful metaphor and the picture is divine. Who knows what the future holds? Like a loving wedding couple, it's all in the firm avowal of intention, commitment... and love. I hope it will be a wedding feast that the world will get to be invited to - and to marvel in. I am sure the Big easy will rise from the proverbial ashes of Katrina, I just hope they build bigger levees or use bigger dykes(sp?) or build it on a hill this time... Ed

I felt the hope rising in the news articles I read today. Loved this write!
I think that it will never be safe for people to live there again, it would be wrong to take that kind of a risk. Some sort of memorial should be built, a tribute to all who made New Orleans great and to all those who perished in the aftermath of the hurricaine. Perhaps the French Quarter could be restored for business only and for Mardi-Gras. I believe that she will again shine, but I hope that it will be in a much different and safer way.

New Orleans, glitter and hype, but beneath all that was a city mired in corruption, let us hope saner heads will prevail when the city is rebuilt, but I don't hold much hope out for that to happen. This is Louisiana, ferchristsakes, we like to revel in our corruptness and it is sad, very sad. At the same time I know of nowhere better for a get-down party. But the veneer of the party is wearing thin these days.
