I have to admit it, I'm addicted to haiku. :) Thought it would be fun to write a lesson plan in haiku format.

Haiku are for those
who have no meter or rhyme
in their bodies.  As

long as they can count
to seventeen syllables,
anybody can

'ku-coo-ki-choo.  The
most challenging part is
trying to convey

a whole story or
image in those seventeen
short syllables; that

is the hardest thing.
It should be about nature;
otherwise, it would

be a senryu.
So, find yourself a peaceful
place, under the trees,

maybe near a brook,
and look around you to
gain inspiration ...

you could write about
the birds stitched against the sky,
or one about the

ladybug that made
a spectacular landing
right on your nose, or

try to imagine
putting the power of a
storm in seventeen

short syllables ...
can you do it?  You won't know
unless you haiku.

Each haiku stanza
is three lines.  The first one has
five syllables; the

next one has seven,
the last one, five syllables;
total:  seventeen.

Each should stand alone,
or you can connect them and
make a haiku chain.
