I'll be alright. I get these darn things every month.

Poem Artwork

Lightning scribbles a message
of pain across the page of
my forehead, thundering
the certainty of a migraine;
the storm approaches
with streaks in my vision
and roaring in my ears.

I should be used to this ...
but I'm not.  I'm not.
It's hard to write with this
pounding ... pounding
in my head, so it's time
to turn out the lights
and go to bed.

Afraid you will never get used to them and bad weather often has a bad influence on those darn migranes. We hope it will pass fast! A great write!

Thank goodness I have never fell victim to these damn things. Dottering (said lovingly) Dottie used to get them occasionaly, but hasn't had one for a long time, so maybe you will lose them too someday, I hope.

My son has migraines...aince elementry school. I recall going to get him and seeing him with his hands, much like this picture, hanging over a trash can as it made him violently sick. What do you tell a 6 year-old when he asks why God chose him to have migraines? He's a father now and we're all crossing our finger, praying that this tiny infant won't have them.It is awful.

Feel better.
Love and peace,
Susan

Migraines are a personal hell. They attack without warning most of the time.
My suggestion would be have a doctor check your hormone levels. If they are out of kilter, then most likely, that is your demon.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I used to get this as well and have found that it is best to pop tylenol or some other migrane med as soon as you see the warning lights appear. Sorry for you pain kiddo....Excellent write.

And don't forget to breathe ... in-breath, out-breath ... flow with it with your attention, and ... maybe, it might disperse!

I have not had one for quite sometime, thankfully, as I get this "aura" prior to it and I call it my acid flashback or the closest thing I will ever get to it, or so it looks...when I get the aura, I just pop a bunch of pain killers and go to bed...so goodnight, Karla... Ed
