Wow!! This really got to me, Karla, as I, too, have desired so much the same thing. I have nouances of His presence come across my mind's eye at times, but to see HIS face would just be too awesome. The Christ Himself commanded, "Look UP, for your redemption draws nigh"...and He gave us that advice for when we are right in the middle of our trials. Just keep that chin up and yes you will see Him. Only those who are looking will. :)
Just keep that faith, whether you see Him or not, as long as you know He is there, He is...you see Him everyday, in the storms you write so well of as well as every thing that happens and doesn't, thats Him...Ed
