How did folks live without A.C.? :)

Poem Artwork

soft'ning like butter
in southern humidity
and the press of heat

weighing ever down -
pudd'ling poets become one
with melting asphalt.  :)

Karla, get out those old-fashioned Ladie's Fans, like they had at the Tent-Meeting Revivals, back in the day! Those worked!

Or [grin], maybe they just................fanned the Fire!

This is adorable, though.......get a big straw hat!

When I was a kid, we never had A.C., and we survived just fine. We are all extremely spoiled these days!

It honestly takes a Southerner to appreciate the impact of the opressive heat and humidity...sizzling skin and the wilt. This brought to mind one day a while back when the little girl next door knocked at mine pleading in her child-like lilt (hand to forehead), "Miss Taylor, Miss Taylor...I have to come inside "cause I'm...(slight gasp) "suh-wet-n"! I love a poem that makes me remember.
