Poem Artwork

Coiling 'round my body, a
serpent; slowly squeezing
with bands of pain; choking
off normal life as I once
knew it; the monster has
me in its clutches and won't.
Let.  Go.

Walls are closing in and
pressing in from every side;
the confines of muscles and
nerves conspire to keep me
in bed; restrained in a
claustrophobic hell that won't.
Let.  Go.

Tears for freedom that never
comes; my screams fall on the
deaf ears of the Inquisitor;
stretched beyond the breaking
point, I confess the sin of living;
fibromyalgic pain that won't.
Let.  Go.

Precious Karla, it grieves me - truly GRIEVES me - to read of your pain! It brought tears...

Like Eileen, I have some personal understanding of what you experience...and I also agree, hang in there, and keep the faith.

Three of the Scriptures I find most helpful is, 'this too, will pass...'
'as I think, I become..' and I CAN do all things through CHRIST, who stregthens me...'

A new one comes to mind...'we are more than conquerors, we are overcomers...

Now, Karla, May the LORD use all the love and prayers and good wishes everyone is sending your way, to lift you above the pain and agony, and deliver you His healing touch! In Jesus' Name, Amen & Amen!

I love you, Girlfriend...Rhonda

Dear Karla,

Oh, how my heart goes out to you. You see, I am also inflicted with that horrible thing called fibromyalgia. I call pain a dragon who is my constant companion. There is never a day when I am without pain. I have found that stress has a lot to do with how much pain we feel. So, anything we can do to relieve stress is helpful. Exercise is a great way to eliminate stress & pain and the absolute best form of exercise I've found helpful is simply walking. Perhaps we can share other "secrets" with each other about effective ways to battle this curse. Please know that you are not alone.

Love & Light,
Joseph

What can I say except that it makes me sad to know of you living iwth this illness. My sister suffers and it has robbed us of so much, our friendship, touch and laughter. I wish I could pray enough to make this go far, far away for you and those that suffer with such an invisible illness. Even though I can't see it, I know how real and devastating it is. You are loved, hang in there.

This is my life, or on some days like today especially, it really is-people without FM have no clue what it is like to have your body really be in control of your life- I know I had no clue before this that our bodies do really control us, and my life is so different than the one I lived as a 34 year old healthy woman-now at 36, with FM, I have learned to try my hardest to think of the things I can do and not the things I can't-yes, it is hard on those days when the climb up the stairs after church feels like Mount Everest, when a walk to 3 stores in the mall feels like I've been out for 2 days without sleep and full of pain, when people stare at my scrunched up face as I walk with my cane, and I feel a disappointment to my loved ones because I want to help them even though they are amazing and supportive and tell me they don't mind helping me-but there is also faith, family, friends, nature, art, writing, my kitty Jolly, my love Andy, laughter, and all those things are so much more at the surface of life when you learn how precious life really is, and that is a gift from FM that I doubt I would have gotten without it. God Bless you and feel free to email me anytime-knowing someone else is going through the same thing makes all the people who don't believe FM exists look really stupid! Love and prayers, Michelle

Am humbled and shocked about your suffering.
The highest of Blessings for you, Dear Lady.
Hang on, and hope that a new medication will be here.
Will think of you whenever the slightest pain hits.

Karla we feel your pain and it is too bad that collectively we could not all here on the den take a little piece of it to lighten your load but as we cannot all we can offer is our thoughts and prayers. Take care.

I agree with Ed below completely

Go on the offensive with overwhelming prayer to Almighty God..

And a little bit of Chinese Tai Chi, is also a wonderful releasing discipline of mind and body

Sounds scary and painful, but I find meditation seems to help a bit, so maybe immersing yourself into deep prayer might help...you are in my thoughts daily...Ed, as well as Rufuz
