People can be cruel. Recently I went to a fast food place with my hubby. I have to wear a back brace while healing from my back surgery. I noticed some of the workers behind the counter giggling and staring. We should all have to walk a mile in another's shoes. Perhaps the world would be a gentler and more sensitive place. Easier said than done...but ignore the jerks, Karla. If those folks knew that you've served our country, their tunes would change. Figure that one out. You shouldn't have to wear a "badge" to have one's respect. I especially like the wording of the second line in this poem. Hugs,
Sheila
ignorance is always so naked Karla -- if you can find it in your heart to forgive the poor misguided souls -- do so -- you can only hope that one day they will realize the mistakes of their devious ways -- another terrific photo and poem Karla -- God bless -- JMW
The picture is beautiful but people aren't. Continue on as soldiers for the Lord; the Lord promised He will fight your battles if you just keep still and know He is God.
LOL
So sad that there are still people who get off on jokes about others! Pity them Karla for they are too small to take notice of! I know it infuriates you to hear it,but I also know they aren't worth your tears! Write on,as their snickers bite the dust!
Wow. This is deep, Karla. A disability has no bearing on a persons character, does not show their wisdom, humor or good heart. What a shame to know there are people out there who judge accordingly. Who doesn't have SOME type of handicap?
How low can some folks go? If only that lightning strike in the photo found those who deserve to know sky dragon fire more intimately! Thanks so much for creating beauty out of pain--
I've been scorned, too, for my size and for other things as well. I know what its like and it ain't nice. I've always been taught, however, that what you send out comes back times three, therefore you always reap what you sow and those who mock us will get their comeuppance. The only problem is, will we be there to see it? Rebecca
I agree 100% with Karn, they aren't worth the life they are living dear. Little do they realize it but they have a severe disability, anyone who can't think properly before opening their mouth has a slow brain. Ignor them Karla, they aren't worth your time dear.
You are a joy and I smile for the ones that laugh will be laughing last my friend. You are remarkable and stronger than those who laugh, feel sorry for them for they no not what they do! Lovely write, still waiting for my weather report though. Love and hugs, Bonnie
ANYONE who makes fun of those of us who live with disability aren't worth our time. Powerfully felt, thought provoking excellence; very well penned! BRAVA, Karla!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sister, Karen Lynn. :(
They say Karma is a grouch. Okay, another word, but I'm being nice! LOL
I understand just where you're coming from with this Karla. Being disabled myself I can appreciate the way you put this into words my friend. God bless.
Sweetie, I love what you did with this. But we do have our heros. Those who laugh behind their hands are numbered among the vermin in our lives, for they have no worth to justify their own lives. Those who face dire challenges and excel - those are our heros for, by exercising their own free will, they daily prove their worth in our lives. Even God stands in salute :-)

Soldier on, Soldier. It's always the valiant ones who soldier on, and the cowards who hide in the dark, snickering.
