... just when I think I'll get rest, ....

Poem Artwork

Hospital Standard
Time is not mine ---
welcome to Hell.  I
waken to theirs on
a point of a needle
--- blood work.  They march me to hours of
x-rays & tests, counting out the minutes of
"Hold it:  don't move:  don't breathe:  relax."
The second hand of my vital signs rhythms
to the beeping of an IV --- just when I think
I'll get rest, Doctor
walks into my room
--- sorry, they must
repeat the test:  not
my time.  Theirs . . .

no more arduous time is there than time spent in a hospital -- regardless of how kind and helpful the doctors, nurses and technicians try to be -- the hours I have spent in a hospital the last several years were a kind of drudgery humans should not have to suffer through -- my body cut, probed, pieces removed, stitched up --peace, no more tests, no more hospital stays -- JMW

I have been there more than once I am sorry to say and it never gets easier that is for sure...but we grin and bear it knowing they are there to try and help us.

I sure can tell what you must be going through. For months, my hubby has had this kind of frustration from going to the hospital, and they couldn't even find anything that was wrong with him.

But are you okay?...Or is this just a poem?

Take care!

Not a place to get any rest at all. They give you sleeping pills to help you sleep then come in before the crack of dawn to withdraw more blood, yuk. Sure hope you are okay??? God bless you always as you remain in our thoughts and prayers....

Be always safe,
Karen

Karla,

Very well written. I hate hospitals, especially when they wake you up to take your blood pressure or give you a ....sleeping pill!

Well done Karla. If there's anything I hate more than a hospital it's two hospitals. The night nurses are the worst - constant chatter and laughing while the patients are trying to sleep. A terrible place to be.

You really nailed my own experience here. Remember when the hospital was a quiet zone? Not any more! Rebecca

Two wrong diagnosis one after the other, the third was right but in nick of time, ambulance, hospital, IV's here there and there with balloons hanging everywhere like a birthday party but withour colors.
"try to relax and sleep" said a nurse and stabbed me with a three foot long needle and thick like my leg. It "was" their time.

I understand right where you're coming from Karla. Our pains are ours but our time is theirs. Like this very much my friend. Well done.

I'm glad I'm not in that situation now. Have had more than enough of hospitals already (but nothing like you; your ten hospitalizations and five surgeries verses my one month-long stay and three surgeries; you've gotten me beat!!)! Love the format! Excellent write, Karla; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :)
