About half of American doctors in a new survey say they regularly give patients placebo treatments - usually drugs or vitamins that really won't help their conditions. And many of these doctors are not honest with their patients about what they are doing.

Placebo is used in experiments and not in treatments but it all happens to patients worldwide... and it is not the right way to treat with patients. Beautiful write
The worse part is that not only do these placebo's not have any value...the doctors are "tricking" us...and charging us the same price as the real medicine!!! That to be is fraud!!!! good point Karla... lindalaw
You are so right and that is the way it is here in Canada as my Dr. smerked and said I believe you are stretching the pain Rose, how would she know my pain, then she says your exrays show you have austioaritis from your neck to your lower back and your hips and four deterioated disc in your upper spine and I stretch the pain I am having as if we enjoy being in pain with many sleepless nights. Then they wonder why I have high blood pressure. Thank you for sharing.

You either get medicine that doesn't nothing or your get medicine that causes 20 more problems. I guess you can't win for losing.
Yes, this is and has been a fact of life for as far back as I can remember, yet these same doctors still are sure to charge us the same and have no regard to their patience health....
That is scary and the more we read up on the meds we are prescribed the better prepared we are to discuss them with not only our family doctor but also with our local pharmacist.

WHACK - the Vain doctor with your Cane" -
THEN - 'He can Complain of Pain!' -
THEN - GIVE HIM TWO SUGAR PILLS!
AND - CALL HIM IN THE MORNING - ABOUT 2:30 A.M. !!!

When I was 14, I went to the clinic on base three times with a bad sore throat and fever. Each time I saw the same doctor who asked me the same questions: "Are you pregnant? Are you sure you're not pregnant? How do you know you're not pregnant?" When I answered "No!" to each question, he prescribed aspirin and sent me on my way. Finally, on my fourth visit, I saw a different doctor (a woman) who sent me straightaway for bloodwork and then diagnosed severe mononucleosis. Even with the proper medication it took me months to completely recover, and to this day I'm jaundiced toward male doctors. Rebecca
With so many types of desease and reactions from medications it is no wonder we survive the meds given to us...all medications are an invention of the human skill...they are not a guarantee to health...the reality is that sickness is also a man made creation...

If the doctors would listen to their patients, be more understanding towards their needs, et. al, maybe there wouldn't be so many problems. As you say, "No wonder they call it medical practice: they haven't perfected it yet". Ain't it the truth! Excellent write, Karla; hopefully it will bring a call for NO MORE!!

If the doctors were honest wth their patients, they would not be able to give them the sugar pills...and now the docs of the world are starting to get smart regards pain pills, they are keeping track of what each other of them gives out...hope you are pain free...ed

Some doctors don't know anything. They hold a piece of certificate and go about malpractising and use humans as guinea pigs. Sad world indeed!!!
