... no, not that one, the one you know. ....

Poem Artwork

Fall is here:  no, not that one, the
one you know.  Talking about
the one that sprawled me into the
ditch, the one that left mud in my
teeth and all over my clothes:  yes.
T h a t  one.  As quick as lightning,
faceplant:  leg went right out from
under.  Stupid:  knew better than
to traverse in sandles and cane.
What I get, taking the shortcut.
Right shoulder took a direct strike,
adding to the pain I'm already in.
Going to feel that in the morning.
Already do.  Stiff and sore, not to
mention, embarrassed:  you would
think, at 49, I'd know how to walk.

My best fall...or worst really...happened in Haiti at the airport. It happened so unexpectedly that I had no time to brace myself for the fall and literally fell flat on my face...and my wrist and my knee. My body had huge bruises and I couldn't bend my leg or wrist for days...all of that coupled with needing to stay in Haiti for 10 days! (no air conditioning, 90% humidity and 95 degree weather, little clean running water, no ice...) I was miserable! But... hee, hee... the good that came from it... hee, hee... It was the only time I went through that airport where I didn't have to tip anyone! hee, hee...

falls, two in my life this week -- my wife with a large bump on the head and a spine in much pain -- and just yesterday, my wife's sister a fall -- with an ankle broken in three places and surgery to pin the bones awaiting her Monday - falls that kind -- hope you are over the pain quickly my dear friend -- the light of love overcomes many adversities, keep it burning brightly in your heart -- Jon Michael

Karla, sorry about the pain for the Fall. Maybe we should form
a Fall-Down Club. Over the years I've fallen an broken so many parts that I'm running out of things to break. Sorry about your fall, but I'm delighted with the poem it inspired. Love, gene.

Just like me, you are just allergic to gravity...(yesterday I fell on Rufuz, slipping on the ice of which we have a great amount, for now, but after the upcoming weekend with temps in the mid 60's, no more ice, yay...) Ed & Rufuz (no I didn't crush the poor dog, LOL)

LOL I'm helpin' her as much as I can; she's hurtin' for certain! Karla, this is a very descriptive write of the season of being TWINKLETOES!! LOL Very well done; brava! Hope you feel better soon!

(((HUGS))), much love, and prayers!

Karla,

It looks like you got spun into a storm of your own making. Wow...I hope you will physically recover soon, as well as regain your dignity and your sense of well-being. Just a wake up call I hope, and a reminder of how fortunate most of us are not to have to live with a disability.

I commend you, and your twin Karen, and others for holding your head up high, and living with courage and dignity despite the disability that makes life so difficult for you. You are leading by example, which is a hard act to follow. Stunning!

Blessings,

Rockie Coppolella
