Grace and courage skated
into the arena
amid great personal
loss. Joannie Rochette
carried the hopes and dreams
on shoulders bowed by grief,
but gave the performance
of her life --- there wasn't
a dry eye in the place
and you could feel the love.
Those of us watching on
TV were moved by her
strength to go on --- the heart
of a champion. She
has already earned Gold,
no matter what happens
in the long program. We
are all Canadians
now, wishing her the best
because she gave us hers.
Yes, you are right- I believe our loved ones who passed do give us the clarity in those times from the other side, helping us to do things we are sure we would never make it through. I enjoyed watching her, and the girl from Korea brought tears to my eyes, too, for the sheer artistry and beauty in her performance...I was thinking of writing about her, maybe now I will, thanks for the inspiration!
I haven't watched and have no idea about skating, but i can feel the pride and fondness within your verses, Karla. I will look her up on the internet. Thank you for the inspiration, my friend. Peace and love in Christ.
Absolutely, Karla. I watched this, too, and admired her artistry and her courage to go on a few days after a terrible personal loss...yes, a true champion in all ways.

Quite a show for her mother I would say / It also showed her courage / Makes me think of an aunt of mine who died / Her daughter song at the funeral / How in the world did she ever get through it I have no idea. . .
I couldn't have done it; I would have been an emotional wreck! She gave the performance of a lifetime; in my eyes she has already gotten the Gold, and so have you with this beautiful tribute to a true champion! Very well penned/imaged; brava, Karla!
