... i think i have known autumn for
far too long --- the dying season,
where everything i have ever loved
makes like leaves and falls from
the trees.
i tried to keep you: i pressed you
between the pages of my favorite
book, took pictures ---
but it wasn't enough.
nothing i can do to bring you back:
your colors have faded, your edges
are cracked and brittle --- even my
tears don't help. should throw you
away, but i. just. can't ---
it's the last thing i have of you.

Karla, a touching write my dear friend. A beautiful metaphor. Autumn is the changing of the guard for seasons and the time for changing of our perceptions. At least we HAD an autumn to remember; hopefully we will have some semblance of a winter, like we did last year. Somehow seventy degrees in December, January, or February seems all wrong. Give me the cold and the snow!
